How should I handle my Court Date for a speeding ticket?

One year ago in June, I was driving back to New Jersey from CT. It was late (around 2:15am) because I had just left a gig at a bar. Anyways, there was nobody out on the highway and for a split second the speed limit went to 55mph. It was not a construction zone though. Before i knew it, an officer parked off the highway, turned on all of his lights so I pulled over immediately. He got me for doing 86 in a 55, and also a tail light out. I told him i had ONE beer about 4 hours prior to leaving CT, so he demanded I get out of the car so he could breathalize me. I was fine and he sent me back to my car, handed me a ticket and now here I am. Tonight, I have to drive back to New York for the Court date. How could I possibly fight this? I'm a college student with limited funds, it was late and nobody was on the road.. I was NOT intoxicated, and it was a cheap speed trap.. I'm just wondering what I am going say to the Judge, or the cost of the tickets that I recieved will be!
