Lenovo or Samsung or some other Laptops?

So I need a new laptop for college and i'm trying to get something light so around 14inch screen, and with at least 640gb hard drive, 6 or 4 gigs of ram, and either intel i5 or i7. I've been looking at Lenovo and Samsung laptops so if anybody could give me personal reviews on them, if not other suggestions for a freshman college student i also need to keep the budget under $1000 so no mac books (i don't like them anyways).
