Reading Lolita in Tehran reduction?

Haven't read it in a while so I'm a little iffy about the subject. a reduction is basically a way of connecting things like motifs characters and quotes and what not and making pictures out of them to make some kind of theme. only thing is I remember parts and not really anything connection to one another...help?
