Summary of The Scarlet Letter?

Read it in high school....don't remember name's or characters but basically it's about the witch hunts and such and whatever woman wears a scarlet A on thier blouse is part of the puritan society and innocent of witchcraft? I didn't do too well in english class lol hope that helps....
