Why are PS3's so expensive?

I got a PS3 a few days ago, I got a 160 gig slim used for $270. Why is it so expensive even though I got it used? Then the games are kind of expensive too, I got 12 games for it as well for a little over $300. Some of the games I got were used too. Why is this all so expensive?
