If someone gives you the silent treatment for days why don't they just tell you to leave them alone?

if someone gives you the silent treatment for days almost a week..and you tried to apologize for anything I did and told them I enjoy their friendship..and they still don't say anything and I keep trying to see if they will talk and say nothing.. they obv don't want me to talk to them so why don't they say "leave me alone" rather than the silent treatment?
